Joanna Newsom and the art of music

related to my previous post, what is good or bad music can also be quite irrelative, especially during these days where the pop culture and its commercialism have an immense impact on our society, behavior, ethics and morals (I dare to say and will probably elaborate on this in a future blog as I slowly start to realise that my next degree of study, after I finish the mace course will be something like social anthropology and contemporary issues in the commercial era). We can discuss whether or not it is a question of taste, but I will save that for later.
However, Joanna Newsom, is a great, great, great artist! She inspires me and I am sure so many others with her beautiful lyrics and harp playing. Her music evokes a range of emotions in me, it is truly stunning, I think. She released her new album Have One On Me this year, following the previous Ys and Milk Eyed Mender. I have seen her live twice, once in Royal Albert Hall and once in Royal Festival Hall. Both times the audience (including me!) seemed spellbound. I know it is a cliche, but the atmosphere was sparkles and fairy tales and mountains and rivers and flowers and stars all at once.
